Right outside of Marble Falls is a farm called Sweet Berry Farms. This is actually where we went last October with Landon to the Pumpkin Patch. Apparently they celebrate every season! This time of year their fields are swarming with strawberries! Row after row of sweet, delicious berries.

Landon was very excited to pick some berries! Although, we weren't sure what the minimum age is for eating strawberries (such high potential for allergies), so we played it safe and didn't give him any. Sorry buddy, you'll have to wait til next year.

We did get him all decked out with hat and sunscreen! It was supposed to be cloudy and raining today, but it was a warm (very warm) 85 degrees with a nice breeze.

Look at the rows and rows of strawberries behind us! When you walk to the front of the farm, a man gives you a basket and tells you to pick as many berries as you like. When you are finished, you go back to the front and pay for the berries by the pound (plus an extra 50 cents for the basket).

Don't know how much more we would have paid if they weighed Scott before and after the picking session! He probably ate 1 out of every 5 he picked!! In his defense, it was hard to resist...they were deliciously amazing!

For the little kids, they also had some animals and a small petting zoo. We saw horses, donkeys and goats. Landon was very amused watching the animals run around and eat. He kept giggling at them.....until this particular donkey decided to start screaming! He didn't like that very much.

He loved the baby goats though.

At the end, we were hot, tired and in desperate need of some home-made, fresh from the fields strawberry ice cream! They sold it at the front, along with fresh strawberry Popsicles and strawberry lemonade. The ice cream was to die for!

All done til next month......then it's blackberry season!
I just posted how we went to the farm and picked strawberries too. Our farm didn't have fresh ice cream though, that sounds fabulous!
