The Seton Medical Center NeoNatal Intensive Care Unit was our home away from home for 3 months. To us it was not just a sterile hospital environment, it was a place where kind, loving people became like family. When you spend hours a day with these people for months at a time, you learn about their lives, they learn about yours and you develop close, personal friendships. Because of that, the hospital holds a reunion every year for anyone who was ever a "resident" in the NICU.
I was very excited to attend the reunion to "show off" how wonderfully Landon has progressed since he left the hosptial last September. Alexis (above) and Chris (below) were 2 of Landon's primary nurses. When you have an extended stay at the NICU, you can choose (and they choose you) a primary nurse. That means whenever that nurse is on shift, they will always be taking care of their primary patient. This helps to maintain consistent care, something we were very on board with.
This little guy was one of Landon's "roomies." He had a isolette/crib next to Landons. As a result, we became close with his family since we were often visting at the same time. It was nice to have someone to vent to and receive support from that understood the situation we were going through.
This was our favorite doctor! Not only did he have an extremely entertaining British accent, he was very knowledgable, thoughtful, kind, supportive and committed to Landon's health! It was wonderful to see him. He immediately recognized us and was in awe to see how big and healthy Landon is. We owe much of Landon's success to his awesome care.
