Fire Station Tour

I belong to a local MOMS club comprised of stay at home moms. We plan activities and field trips to keep the kids occupied and allow the moms an opportunity to chat with other adults! Yesterday I organized a field trip to the fire station here in Kyle. Needless to say, it was a hit! We had 50 people show up, 20 moms and 30 kids!! Our Chief gave everyone a tour of the station, then let the kids climb on the trucks and try on fire gear. They were in heaven! At the end, he passed out fire fighter badge stickers and plastic, red fire hats. I was so happy everyone had a good time and learned about fire safety!

My new BFF

We love our friends Bo and Kim, but unfortunately because of conflicting schedules, don't get to see them that often. We had the great luck of hanging out with them two days in a row! Tonight we had them over for dinner. It was fantastic for our sons to get to know each other. Their son Luke is almost exactly a year older than Landon, being born in June of '08, and is one smart cookie! He knows all his letters, colors, shapes, animals and vehicles!
After playing and having a messy spaghetti dinner, both boys got a bath. Luckily there were enough bath toys present that no one got feelings hurt about sharing! ;)
Although, Landon wasn't thrilled about getting his hair washed.
Landon the "cow" and Luke the "monkey."
I don't think these two would get any sleep together! ;)

Jackson Hole

We traveled to Jackson Hole, Wyoming for a family friend's wedding. I think it might have been the most beautiful wedding I've ever seen! The location was gorgeous and the weather was phenomenal! (It was very hard to come back to 100 degree, plus humidity Austin!)
It was awesome traveling to Jackson Hole with the family, we had lots of hands to help keep Landon occupied! ;) The landing into Wyoming offered amazing views of the surrounding Teton mountains, that immediately generated a feeling of entering "the West!"
The town has great character and brings out the cowboy in all of us!

Grammie, Mommy and Landon on a bike ride.
We thought he would like feeling the breeze on his face and seeing the sights, but he was pretty antsy back there!
The big boy posing with some black bears.
Landon and Uncle Steve on their way to the wedding.
Family picture after the wedding. We road gondola up the moutain to the wedding. The location had the most incredible views of the Teton moutains and the expansive valley below.

California lovin'

We traveled to California for a cousin's wedding and stayed at my parent's house in Thousand Oaks. Now that all the cousins are grown up, have jobs, spouses and children of their own, it's hard to organize get-togetCheck Spellinghers. Therefore, weddings turn into mini family reunions!
The weather in CA was warmer than usual, so we spent lots of time cooling off in the pool.
Landon is showing off that he's "SO BIG" these days!

Long time no post...

Sorry we've been MIA for so long.....we had a busy month! We were on the road for 3 out of the 4 weeks in July, lots of living out of suitcases, sleeping in different beds (and pack-n-plays), and seeing friends and relatives. We had a great time!
Landon loved getting to meet new cousins and friends, but was definitely ready to get home to his own space. Can't say we were excited to come back to Texas weather.......too hot!
