The Zoo

On one of Scott's recent days off, we decided to check out the Austin Zoo. It was pretty far off the beaten path in the Hill Country, so we weren't quite sure what to expect. It wasn't your typical zoo with concrete pathways and cement cages. It was a very "hill country" experience with dirt walkways and wire fences.
It allowed land to get up close and personal with this huge tortorise as it was eating lunch. Seriously, this thing was enormous! We checked out some wolves. The white one on the right only had 3 legs! I think most of the animals at the zoo were rescues.
We found one of those cute wooden cut-outs that you stick your face through and thought it would be adorable to get a picture of Landon in it. Unfortunately, he was NOT having it! We must have tried 4 or 5 times, no luck.

While checking out the tigers, I must have said or done something that tickled Landon's funny bone because he was all giggles!
I love getting such big smiles outta him!
My favorite ;)

The zoo also had a section devoted to a petting zoo. There were goats, deer, pigs and sheep all ready to eat the food right outta your hands!
